Where Does Our Ethical Sheepskin Come From? A Look Inside Our Traceable Supply Chain

Home / Blog / Where Does Our Ethical Sheepskin Come From? A Look Inside Our Traceable Supply Chain

When you buy a sheepskin product, do you ever wonder where the skin actually comes from? Which country? Which farm? How was it tanned?

Many brands don’t tell you. We think you deserve to know.

In this article, we show you our entire supply chain — from farms to tannery, from our warehouse to your door. This is where ethical sheepskin begins.

Part 1: Where Our Skins Come From

We don’t buy from just one place. Different origins, different sheep breeds, different characteristics. We match the right skin to each customer’s needs.

Our main sources:

OriginBreedBest For
Australia / New ZealandMerinoBaby mats, premium gloves
South AfricaSheepskinRugs, car covers, pet beds
Ningxia, ChinaTan sheepDecorative rugs, photo props

Every batch is traceable. This is what we mean by a traceable sheepskin supply chain.

Part 2: Our Tanning Process – Eco Friendly Sheepskin

Traditional tanning uses chromium, formaldehyde, and other chemicals. Harmful to people and the planet. We chose a different path.

We use eco-friendly tanning

The result: Soft, natural sheepskin with no harsh chemical smell.

All our skins pass SGS international certification. Test results:

  • Formaldehyde
  • Azo dyes
  • Chromium VI

All three substances have been qualified

This is eco friendly sheepskin you can trust. Safe for babies. Safe for pets. Safe for your home.

Part 3: Our Warehouse – Grading Every Skin

Every skin arrives at our warehouse. Before anything gets made, we inspect and grade each one by hand.

Our grading system:

  • Grade A: Full wool coverage, no scars, no bald spots
  • Grade B: Minor natural marks (insect bites, etc.) —does not affect use
  • Grade C: Visible flaws — used for small pieces or budget lines

A note on natural materials: Sheepskin is not a man-made material. Wool length, color, and curl vary naturally from skin to skin. That is the beauty of real ethical sheepskin. No two skins are identical.

Part 4: Our Workshop – Custom Only

We do not sell ready-made products. We only do custom. Every product is made individually to customer specifications.

How it works:

  1. You send your request (size, drawing, reference photo)
  2. We match the skin and send a quote
  3. Sampling if needed (about 10 days)
  4. Production with photo/video confirmation
  5. Shipping

Finished product or whole sheepskin. All made to your specifications.

Conclusion

From farm to tannery. From our warehouse to our workshop. From us to you.

We choose traceable origins.

This is what ethical sheepskin looks like. This is eco friendly sheepskin made right. And this is our traceable sheepskin supply chain — fully transparent.
